A Beginner’s Guide to Cannabis Edibles: Dosage, Effects, and Tips
Edibles are an easy, smoke-free way of getting THC into your system. We’re The Green Nugget, our dispensaries in Spokane and Pullman have some of the best edibles in Washington. If you’re intimidated by smoke, edibles are a great-tasting way to get started with cannabis.
How are edibles made?
The standard edibles most people look for (brownies, gummies, cookies, chocolate bars, and other baked goods,) are made using cannabutter (cannabis infused butter) or cannabis oil. THC-infused drinks usually infuse the drinks with a tincture instead of oil or butter. Aside from the addition of a cannabis base, the ingredients for most baked goods and beverages are the exact same as their non-THC equivalents.
How long does it take for an edible to kick in?
It can take anywhere from 15 minutes to two full hours to feel the effects of edibles. This is highly dependent on how your body absorbs cannabinoids like THC and CBD. If you’ve never taken an edible before, we highly recommend starting with a small amount (like half a gummy) and waiting the full two hours before deciding if the edible is strong enough for you.
How long do edibles last?
The effects from edibles can last anywhere from 30 minutes to a full 12 hours once your body has absorbed the THC. This is highly dependent on your dosage and tolerance.
How to consume edibles safely
We highly recommend starting with a lower dose edible. All edibles will have a listed amount of THC either for the entire product or per serving. If you’ve never tried THC Edibles or gummies before, err on the side of caution and start out with a lower dose of 5 MG or 2.5 MG. Don’t increase the dosage until you’ve fully felt the effects of the first edible.
